Chrysoula K. Fantaousakis, Ph.D., Welcomed into Rotary 

 

Dr. Chrysoula Fantaousakis was inducted into membership of Rotary Roselle-Roselle Park by Rotary District 7475 Governor Ray Freaney. According to Dr. Fantaousakis, she has chosen to join the Rotary club of Roselle-Roselle Park because she is looking for a team of like-minded people who are dedicated to serving the greater good.  She hopes the Rotray family will support here in exploring ways in which she can use her expertise in cultural psychology and mindful living practices to serve the community. 

 

Dr. Fantaousakis is an accomplished professional.  She is a professor in the school of psychology at Kean University where she does research and teaches classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Aside from her work at Kean, Dr. Fantaousakis is creator and executive director of Mindful Horizons LLC from which provides service off campus on a wide range of socially relevant issues.  Her desire is to bring principles and practices of mindfulness to work sites, schools, recreational and rehabilitation settings, wellness centers, community recreational programs, and institutions that support underserved populations.    

 

In concert with the Rotary Ideal of Service Above Self, Dr. Fantaousakis has a log history of volunteer services in recreation, self and family empowerment, and well-being practices both in academia and the community.  Also, as a legally blind professional she has serve as the legislative coordinator for the National Federation of the Blind in New Jersey.  In addition, Governors Corzine and Christie have appointed her to serve two terms as a representative in the Rehabilitation Council of New Jersey.
