CRANFORD - ELMORA SOUP KITCHEN MOBILE PICNIC Gets Almost 1,500 Meals Donated by ROTARY ROSELLE-ROSELLE PARK
Cranford/Elmora Soup Kitchen received almost 1,500 meals from Rotary Roselle-Roselle Park for distribution at the weekly Mobile Picnic. The meals distributed by the Soup Kitchen represent about a third of the 4,400 meals Rotary Roselle-Roselle Park donated to fight hunger. The other meals went to Roselle Park High School and Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Roselle for distribution to needy individuals and families.
The Mobile Picnic occurs each Sunday from 3 to 4 PM at the First Baptist Church, 402 Union Ave., Elizabeth. The program is coordinated by Jean Wands (Roselle Park), Barbara Binder and Skip Winter of the First Baptist Church of Cranford.
Scott Wands of Rotary Roselle Roselle-Roselle Park picked up the food from the Madison staging area and delivered it to the Soup Kitchen.
On September 26, Rotary District 7475 sponsored an event that enabled Rotary Clubs from all over north Jersey to donate food to needy people in their communities. The programs name is End Hunger 3.6. "3.6" represents the fact that every 3.6 seconds someone dies from hunger somewhere in the world. The program is funded by Rotarians.
